Our new Chinese Language Assistant (CLA), Ms Li, arrived in September 2009 via a British Council exchange programme.

During the Autumn Term Ms Li was primarily involved with the Senior VI classes, teaching language and culture. The highlight of her week she says has been the opportunity to join SVI in their weekly cookery lesson as part of the Independent-Living module. This is not a subject offered to pupils in China, and Ms Li is enthusiastic about the idea of encouraging pupils to develop life as well as academic skills.

She’s now looking forward to supporting the Modern Studies module on China for SII pupils, and introducing Junior 6 to the basics of Chinese language.
