Both Millets and Blacks are the official sponsors of the scheme and both stores have selected the best products for use for all participants, with advice from the Award’s Operations and Expeditions Panel.
As part of their commitment to both Group Leaders and participants they offer a discount of 10% for all participants and up to 20% to leaders. This discount runs all year in both stores and is available on production of the Award membership card.
Pupils Meet Prince Edward
Emma Cannon, Gaynor Duthie, Alison Marr, Jack Walker, Michael Walker and Andrew Woods attended the “Young People’s Showcase” at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme International Conference of the General Council in Edinburgh recently where they demonstrated, with other representatives from different organisations, the role the Award plays in a number of projects and what taking part has meant for them.
The group presented a sketch to describe what was involved with the Award Leadership Scheme which the School had pioneered with last year’s Senior VI, who became the first pupils in Scotland to receive the award.
Mr Barry Fisher from the Award Scheme commended our presentation saying “We have received many positive comments from delegates who were thrilled by the presentations made by the young people. We were all extremely proud of their input and I am sure you were too.” We congratulate them on being worthy ambassadors for St. Columba’s.
At the end of the session Prince Edward spoke to all the young participants.
