The Rotary Youth Speaks Competition is a well-established and successful competition organised and promoted by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland. It is a four stage competition which is designed to support and encourage the development of effective communication skills.

Last night, 21st November, saw some of our pupils participate in the local heats and come away with wins for both the Intermediate and Senior teams. They saw off stiff competition from Gryffe High School and now head to the District round. Poppy Pitts, the main speaker from the Intermediate team, delivered a polished speech on the Benefits of Skiing, while Mark Connolly wowed the audience with his presentation on the Power of Music. Finlay Cooper made his debut as Chairperson supported by Eilidh McCrudden as Vote of Thanks. Their counterparts in the winning Intermediate team were Matt Makin and Ryan Rooney. A fantastic performance from all of our pupils!

A special mention must also go to Saoirse Gaston, Charlotte Westwood and Cara Ewing-Mackie, whose presentation on cellular agriculture was excellent.

The District round takes place on 4th February for the Intermediate teams and on 25th February for the Senior teams.
