Thanks to everyone for supporting the teams at our annual FP hockey and rugby matches last Saturday. We were honoured to welcome Scotland rugby star Finn Russell who gave our young players some tips and presented the prizes following the matches. It really was a showcase of sport at St Columba's as we saw the return of some talented former pupils including Imogen Davies, who is on a hockey scholarship at Yale University, and Ewan Rintoul, who recently played for Scotland's U19 rugby squad, to name but a few. The weather was kind, the crowds turned out, our Pipe Band set the scene and the competition was strong to produce the following results.
Hockey:
FPs v School 1 - 0, Player of the match: Ellie Halliday.
Rugby:
Captain v Vice Captain 10 - 10, Man of the Match: Craig McIntyre.
Old Boys v Old Old Boys 21 - 5, Man of the match: Jonny Murray.
Robbie Espie and Sophie Phillips won the Spot the Ball competition and Sophie Thomson won a signed top by Finn Russell in the raffle. The sale of the match programme raised £122 for Doddie Weir’s MND and the Glasgow Children’s Hospital charities.
