After much reflection, I have decided to hang up my gown for the last time at the end of the 2017 Prizegiving ceremony, by which time I shall have taught for the best part of 40 years, 15 as Rector of St Columba's School.

It has been a great honour to have served as the eighth Head of St Columba’s.  By 2017, I hope that we shall have had a royal opening of the Senior School extension. This, in addition to the new astroturf, the refurbished Science Faculty and the beautiful Junior School grounds together with the highest academic achievement in Scotland will form a strong platform for my successor to lead the School forward.  Most importantly, the School will have introduced, very successfully, the new curriculum and public examination system which represents the biggest development for schools in Scotland over the last 25 years.
I shall continue to work hard over the next four terms to ensure the highest standard of education for our young people. The School has every reason to look to the future with confidence.
