The Silver Tablet concert was held at St Columba church yesterday. SI pupils Matthew Brodlie and Oscar Bourke and Transitus pupil Poppy Pitts performed as a prelude. All three pupils are currently at Grade 5 standard in their respective instruments and we look forward to encouraging their musical progress, hoping that they will all compete in Session 2021-22!

Olivia McNee and Matthew Chan (SVI) performed in the main event competing for the Silver Tablet. Both musicians have reached the highest level of performance and this concert is the culmination of many months of dedication, hard work and commitment.

Olivia is currently preparing to sit Grade 8 Voice later this month and has been a member of the RSNO Junior Chorus for many years. She has successfully auditioned for NYCoS Girls’ Choir and has taken part in two performance seasons with Scottish Opera Connect. Olivia hopes to continue her musical career when in Dundee studying medicine.

Matthew has already passed Grade 8 and in November 2015 achieved the ATCL diploma in Pianoforte from Trinity Guildhall, London.  In addition to playing the piano, Matthew also sings in the Boys’ Choir, Senior Choir and Senior Ensemble in School. Matthew aspires to be an architect and part-time musician.

The adjudicator, Ms Palma Allan MBE, complimented Olivia and Matthew on their outstanding performances before declaring Matthew the winner of the Silver Tablet.
