28th January 2019

Five pupils qualified to represent St Columba’s School at the Brodies Scottish Schools Swimming Championships, held at Tollcross International Pool on Saturday 26th January.

All five pupils did fantastically well to come through the Regional heats to qualify for this prestigious competition, with only the top 20 swimmers from across Scotland competing in each event per age group and only the top 10 swimmers competing in the 17-19 years event categories.

Archie McArthur (J5) was the youngest competitor swimming in the 12 & under 50m butterfly event and finished in 10th place.

Stella McCardie (SI) finished 18th in the age 13/14 200m back event and 9th in the 200m butterfly event.

Emilia Rae (SII) finished 15th in both the age 13/14 100m and 200m breaststroke events.

Ashleigh Blyth (SIII) finished 18th in the age 15/16 100m butterfly event.

Lewis Heasley (SV) finished 7th in the age 17-19 400m freestyle event and 8th in the 200m freestyle event.

All our pupils were young in their age groups and will compete in the same age categories again next year.
