5th February 2019

We would like to thank you all for such a superb start to 2019’s foodbank collections. January was our ‘Healthy’ collection and the launch of the class competition with Junior 5S being our first winners with an amazing 35kg weigh in! It was a very close call though with Junior 4C nipping at their heels with just over 32kg.

Continuing with our friendly inter-class competition, our February focus is ‘Love Your Body’ and we would like to collect toiletries, cleaning products, sanitary products and toilet rolls. The Foodbank have also requested a number of items of which stocks are extremely low:

·         elastoplast

·         baby buds

·         shower caps

·         ladies and gents razors

·         face flannels and sponges

With it being the month of Valentine’s Day, some nice treats and sweets can be popped into the boxes too, should you wish to do so. There is a holiday mid-month so this is a two-week collection and will finish on Friday 15th February.

As before, the trolley is always at Reception for any other food stuffs you may wish to donate.

Our lovely friends and residents from Campbell Snowdon, in Quarriers have decided to come on board by helping with the Early Years collection, which is very exciting news and we are so grateful for their help.

Mrs Dickson is also hoping to take the Class Captains and Deputes from J6 with her to drop off the February collection at the Food Bank, meeting Cynthia and her team of volunteers where they can learn a little more about the running of food banks. The children can then report back their findings to the other pupils, furthering their understanding of social awareness, responsibility and charitable giving.

Many thanks to you all for supporting this very worthy cause; it is wonderful to see the trolley and boxes filling up every week, knowing how much help we are giving to some very desperate families.
