Debating & Public Speaking

Debating and Public Speaking clubs are for Transitus-SVI and meet at lunchtime and after school. Pupils learn to discuss and debate contemporary issues both national and international as well as having opportunities to debate in both university and schools competitions in the evening and at weekends. The School’s debaters have won a number of competitions, including the Scottish Mace (Prepared) and the International Mace (Prepared), the Impromptu Aberdeen University Schools’ Competition, the Robert Gordon’s College ‘Auld Hoose’, Stand Out Speaking and Glasgow University’s Debating competitions.  We are also proud to have had representation on the Scottish Debating Team since 2009 for the World Debating Championships in various locations across the world.

Our public speakers are also the UK national champions of the Rotary's Youth Speaks competition.
