The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is the world’s leading youth achievement Award. It has three levels – Bronze, Silver and Gold and four equally important Sections - Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. For those who proceed to Gold there is a fifth ‘Residential’ Section.

St Columba’s is a Licensed Organisation and our pupils have the opportunity to undertake their expedition on foot, on bike or in a canoe.

We are proud to be sector leaders running one of the most successful DofE Award programmes in Scotland, with 76% of our Gold participants going on to achieve their award. In recognition of the service of our volunteers, we were also presented with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – the first award by a school in Scotland and the equivalent of an MBE!
