Career Guidance
The School provides careers education and career guidance for all SI to SVI pupils.
This is provided by Heads of House through the Personal and Social Education programme and through individual interviews with pupils at key stages of transition throughout their Senior School years.
The School is a member of the Independent Schools Careers Organisation (ISCO) and is able to call on its staff of careers professionals at various stages in the guidance programme. One such aspect is Futurewise which combines an aptitude and ability test with an interest questionnaire. This provides each pupil with a journal, action plan and website links directly connected to career choice and ISCO staff follow this up with an interview to discuss the findings.
Pupils can also carry out their own research of professions, universities, colleges and courses in the School’s careers library.
Work related learning is important and all pupils undertake two days work shadowing in Senior IV, one week’s work experience in Senior V and a number of business breakfasts are arranged for Senior VI.
There is a planned series of parents’ evenings for each year group directly linked to progression towards career choice. These cover Senior II to Senior V and include subject choice, UCAS applications and career aspirations.
