Jess Palmer, 2007
I left St Columba's in 2007 to study Medicine at Clare College, Cambridge. Since arriving rowing has become a big part of my life and after many terms of rowing for my college's first boat I decided to try out for the university. Through a great deal of hard work I have been lucky enough to be selected for the Cambridge Lightweight Women's University Boat, as just one of 27 young women who get to represent the University in the Henley Boat Races on the 27th of March.
In Race Week our training moves to Henley in order to get the best possible preparation for the Boat Race, each rower is asked to raise at least £500 to cover the costs of transport, accommodation, coaches, food and kit for this week. It is a privilege to have the chance to race a Boat Race, and one that as women we have to pay handsomely for in a stark contrast to the better publicized, better funded Men's Race.
More information about CUWBC can be found at http://www.cuwbc.org/ and the Boat Races at http://www.henleyboatraces.com/.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My own personal fundraising is being done through the sponsorship links on the CUWBC website and recorded here:

Thank you so much, Jess Palmer
