Monday’s Senior School Assembly saw SI pupil Alex McL be presented with with the very first Gold award as part of the ‘Going for Gold’ awards – a new initiative to emphasise the value that we place on participation in extra curricular activities here at St Columba’s.
Pupils will be awarded Bronze, Silver or Gold awards when they have managed to gain the required number of credit marks.
Badges are awarded as follows:
- Bronze: 60 Credit Marks
- Silver: 100 Credit Marks
- Gold: 150 Credit Marks
Credit marks are awarded by teachers to recognise exceptional achievement, to acknowledge excellence in terms of our school values and to reward contribution to extra-curricular activities. This new system also allows personal achievement in terms of credit marks to be more widely recognised.
‘Going for Gold’ is a new way of recognising achievement, focusing especially on contribution. At the end of the year, there will be a treat for all Gold winners. Taking part in extra-curricular activities and learning to demonstrate integrity, compassion and aspiration are hugely important parts of your education, helping you to become a rounded and more confident individual.
