Former Pupils’ Hockey and Rugby Weekend 2025

Former Pupils’ Hockey and Rugby Weekend is one of the highlights of the St Columba’s calendar and a perfect way to finish up the sporting season. On Friday 28th and Saturday 29th March 2025 we welcomed back former pupils from the last 5+ years to take part in this St Columba’s tradition.

Hockey

The weekend kicked off on Friday evening with the 1st XI taking on a team of Former Pupils led by last year’s Hockey Captain, Lucy MacMillan.

Fresh from their success at the Scottish Hockey Challenge Plate final earlier in the month, the 1st XI led by Captain Rowan M (SVI) were feeling confident going into the match although, with some formidable players on the FP team, they knew they were going to have to pull out all the stops if they wanted a secure a win.

Final Score: 3-1 to the 1st XI

1st XI Player of the Match: Emma V (SVI)

Former Pupils’ Player of the Match: Lucy MacMillan (Class of 2024)

Rugby

The rugby started bright and early on Saturday morning at Birkmyre Park. Captain Gregor D (SVI) led his team against Vice Captain Archie T (SVI) and his XV in the first match of the morning. After a hard fought match, it was the Vice Captain’s XV who emerged victorious.
