Women & Girls in Sport Week: Eilidh (Football)

To celebrate Scottish Women & Girls in Sport Week 2025, Mr Reid our Director of Sport asked five of our up-and-coming female athletes to talk about their sporting journey so far, why they feel sport is important to them and what advice they would pass on to younger pupils.

Today we speak to Eilidh T (SIV) a keen footballer.

What is the highest level you’ve competed at in football?
The highest level of football that I have played is U16s Youth Performance League.

What do you like about football?
What I like most about football is that it is a team game where you can share you successes with your teammates.

What do you like about sport in general?
I feel sport is important for girls because it gives them confidence. It allows them to be active and healthy and gives them a focus and enjoyment outside of schoolwork . This shows girls that they can be good at sport and be proud of it.

Why do you feel sport is important for girls?
I feel sport is very important for women of all ages due to its benefits physically and mentally.

What is your favourite sport away from gymnastics?
My favourite sport away from football is netball.

What is one piece of advice you would give to younger pupils?
One piece of advice for the Junior School girls starting out in sport is to have fun and don’t let anyone stand in your way of doing your best.

Thank you, Eilidh!
