Become a Columban for the Day!

Taster Days - Friday 26th & Monday 29th September

This year, while Renfrewshire & Inverclyde Schools are closed for the September weekend, St Columba’s is opening its doors to give our future students the chance to experience life as a Columban for a day.

Your child will join their current year group, attend classes, meet our teachers, take part in lunchtime clubs, and get a true feel for our school community. It’s a fantastic chance for them to make new friends and discover what makes St Columba’s so special.

If your child is not ready for a full day’s experience, you can still request a visit and come with your child for a tour of the school and a meeting with the Rector to learn more.  Just select that option from the form below.

What Parents Say

“We’ve been so delighted with our daughter’s experience since joining St Columba’s for Transitus. She quickly made great friends and was made to feel really welcome. Having a base teacher to nurture alongside the freedom to experience so much of senior school promotes confidence and independence. As a result, moving to Senior I feels seamless and exciting. Academically, she couldn’t be more prepared but most importantly, she’s happy.”

What to Expect on a Taster Day

  • Immersive Learning: Your child will participate in a full day of lessons, just like our current pupils, experiencing our curriculum firsthand.
  • Meet the Team: They’ll get to know our teachers and staff and find out who would be supporting them if they became a Columban.
  • Connect with Peers: They’ll join their prospective classmates, building connections and getting a sense of the social atmosphere.
  • Explore Our Facilities: They’ll navigate our campus, see our classrooms and even experience our famous school lunches!  By the end of the day they’ll be able to tell you whether St Columba’s is right for them.

What Parents Say

“We chose St Columba’s because there is no other school like it locally, or indeed, in Glasgow.

The campus is beautiful and the school is an educational gem, nestled away in the very desirable, safe, calm and rural town of Kilmacolm. At St Columba’s, every child is an individual, not just ‘another Primary 4 child’ (as is the case for our son). He is not just ‘one of many’ and has really flourished here in a way that I really did not expect!

The leafy Junior School site is beautiful, his teachers are both awesome and awe-inspiring, there are lots of chances to play sport, to learn new things in extracurricular clubs and take up a musical instrument of his choice. These, and many other opportunities, are truly inspiring to someone so young – he feels like he can achieve anything which was certainly not the case when I was at school.

I have no doubt that my son will continue to grasp every opportunity to learn and grow at St Columba’s – I wish I could go back and do it all again myself!”
