Pupils across St Columba's assist Strathgryffe writing letters for the local community

Each year we encourage our pupils to organise and facilitate a charity event. Over the past few months, Strathgryffe has been busy arranging their event and mitigating the challenges of event planning around Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions.

Instead of holding a physical event, Pupils have decided to create a letter drive, asking all St Columba’s pupils and staff to write an open letter to a young person at the Glasgow Children's Hospital or an elderly person in Ardgowan or St Vincent's Hospice.

Pupils in Strathgryffe put together a guideline for letters, highlighting that their main aim is ‘to make everyone smile’. They hope for the letters to be a happy and exciting experience for those receiving them and have encouraged pupils to decorate their letters with positive drawings and colourful illustrations too.

Strathgryffe is pleased to have received so many letters, they have currently sorted these into boxes for each address and hope to have the letters sent out to recipients very soon. Pupils understand that the main aim of their letters is just to spread happiness and support the local community. However, we hope we will be able to share an update on when the letters have been received.
