Staff and Friends of St Columba’s School take on Arran Charity Cycle Challenge
School cyclists travel 90km to raise money for Young Minds
This week teachers, staff and friends from St Columba's are taking on a cycling challenge to raise funds for the mental health charity, YoungMinds.
Last year between lockdowns our PE department took on the Five Ferries challenge but this year, joined by a few new faces, the team have decided to cycle around Arran!
The challenge this year will follow the below schedule!
Ferry from Ardrossan at 7 am
Arrive in Brodick at 8pm
Cycle full loop of Arran (90km) with a few refreshment breaks along the way.
We have two teams that need your support this year. One group will be cycling a full-loop (90km) of Arran, while the other complete a half loop (55km). The half-loop team will depart Ardrossan at 9.45 and arrive on Arran at 10.45 am to start the half-loop of Arran.
The participants are:
Full Loop:
Laura Carlton
Gordi Reid
Eric Milligan
Gordon Bruce
Sophie Farnham
Half Loop:
Jillian Bellew
Sarah McGlennon
Liam Brims
Rona Simpson
Laura Carlton, Head of Charities, decided to raise funds for YoungMinds for the work they continue to carry out, helping young people with their mental health. YoungMinds encourage all young people to get the mental health support they need, ensuring resources are on hand when they need it, no matter what.
If you are able to help our cyclists reach their target, please donate here!
Stay tuned to our Social media for updates on their progress!
