We were thrilled to learn yesterday that our Early Years Team, as a direct result of all the work that they undertake in partnership with Campbell Snowdon House in Quarriers Village, have been Highly Commended in the Building on Wider Knowledge category at the Generations Working Together Excellence Awards.

Beyond the winner, there was only one Highly Commended Award given this year and it was to us; to have received this on such a national and international forum is outstandingly impressive!

Since teaming up in 2018, the Early Years children have enjoyed a close connection with the residents of Campbell Snowdon House in Quarriers Village. Meeting up on a regular basis, they have – among other things – enjoyed bingo afternoons, taken Italian lessons, and gone out to lunch together. This has huge benefits to everyone involved, promoting empathy and understanding between the different age groups, fostering a sense of community, and reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.

In February this year, they performed a very special Intergenerational Concert in the Junior School Hall to an audience of friends and families. This was a wonderful and heart-warming event full of music, movement and drama, and was a great showcase of the amazing intergenerational work taking place in the Early Years department and of the friendships that have blossomed between the children and the Campbell Snowdon residents.

Congratulations are certainly due to our Early Years team and children and, of course, the wonderful staff and residents of Campbell Snowdon House.

We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Campbell Snowdon and can’t wait to see where it will take us next.
