15th March 2017

Congratulations to our Ultimate STEM Challenge 2016/17 finalists, Michael Makin, Lewis Heasley, Quinn Murphy and Michael McGeoch. Out of hundreds of entries, they made it through to the grand final in the Science Museum in London. Along with twelve other groups from across the UK, they presented their work to a panel of judges and they took part in a science fair showcasing their project.

Miss Boyle says “The team explored the efficiency of an aircraft wing. They learnt a lot from the experience and they have further developed their teamwork and their skills of scientific inquiry. Their ability to plan and conduct an investigation has improved vastly and they are far more independent, with a greater degree of initiative. The talented pupils received a commendation from the judges for the ‘scientific rigour of their experimental work’.
