Dame Eleanor Laing, DBE MP

Congratulations to the Rt Hon Eleanor Laing MP, a former pupil of St Columba’s School, who has been honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list to become Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, DBE.
Eleanor Laing has been a Member of Parliament for Epping Forest for 21 years, a Shadow Minister for 12 years and Deputy Speaker for the last four-and-a-half years. She was appointed a member of the Privy Council, the formal body of advisers to the Queen, last November.
