165 pupils from across Renfrewshire competed on Friday 2nd November at the Renfrewshire Heats of the Scottish Schools Swimming Championships at the ON-X, Linwood. 

St Columba’s was represented by 14 pupils who possessed the necessary qualifying times: Lauren Adams, Ashleigh Blyth, Olivia Hamilton, Ava Heasley, Stella McCardie, Lily McCarey, Emilia Rae, Jessica Smith, Alistair Currie, Lewis Heasley, Matthew Heasley, Lukas Kong, Archie McArthur and Ben Skinner.

St Columba’s pupils were extremely successful, winning the following medals:

Lily McCarey, Ava Heasley, Olivia Hamilton, Jessica Smith - Silver (12 & Under 200m freestyle relay)

Lewis Heasley - Gold (Mens 17 & over 400m freestyle)

Emilia Rae - Gold (Girls age 13-14 100m breaststroke)

Stella McCardie - Silver (Girls age 13-14 200m backstroke)

Ben Skinner - Silver (Mens age 15-16 200m backstroke)

Lily McCarey - Silver (Girls 12 & under 50m butterfly)

Archie McArthur - Silver (Boys 12 & under 50m butterfly)

Stella McCardie - Silver (Girls age 13-14 200m butterfly)

Alistair Currie - Gold (Boys age 13-14 100m freestyle)

Matthew Heasley - Gold (Boys age 13-14 100m backstroke)

Ben Skinner - Bronze (Mens age 15-16 100m backstroke)

Emilia Rae - Gold (Girls age 13-14 200m breaststroke)

Alistair Currie - Silver (Boys age 13-14 200m breaststroke)

Ashleigh Blyth - Gold (Womens age 15-16 100m butterfly)

Olivia Hamilton - Bronze (Girls 12 & under 50m backstroke)

Archie McArthur - Silver (Boys 12 & under 50m backstroke)

Lewis Heasley - Gold (Mens 17 & over 200m freestyle)

The top 3 swimmers from each event at the Renfrewshire Heats (so long as they have met the consideration times) will be put forward to compete at the Finals of the Scottish Schools Swimming Championships, held in January 2019. Congratulations to you all.
