Kayleigh Ingham, former teacher at St Columba's, talks about the amazing benefits of a rented wardrobe...

On Monday morning we had the pleasure of hearing from Kayleigh Ingham, a former teacher at St Columba's, who spoke at Assembly about the amazing benefits of a rented wardrobe!

Game-changing clothes hire start-up, Social Style, is offering customer rewards in a bid to raise £9500 to help leverage further investment, so the service can launch this summer.

Social Style will use the crowdfunded money to buy high quality clothes which customers will be able to hire online for a month at a time, and swap out for new stuff at the end of the month, with free delivery and returns - and they'll take care of the laundry! The affordable monthly subscription service lets customers hire from four garments a month for £40.

Social Style customers will benefit from affordable chic looks, whilst taking a step towards a more sustainable way to enjoy fashion. The company will focus on minimising the environmental impact of its operations, and plans to set up a foundation giving profits back to communities, social justice and environmental causes - and will offer free clothes hire to the service users of social justice partner charities, such as Funeral Link and Social Bite.

Naomi Ross, Social Style founder, said "Everyone should have the right to sustainable high quality clothes - ethical luxury shouldn't just be reserved for those who can afford it. And our online UK-wide service means no more trawling the high street in the hope of finding a pre-owned gem - we do all the hard work, bringing the cream of the crop to you. You choose what you want from the comfort of your own home and it's shipped straight to your door! Accessibility and equality, along with reducing our collective carbon footprint, are why I'm launching this service, and I'm really excited to be able to deliver it to the people of Scotland!"

So if you love fashion, but are growing more concerned by the impact that industry is having on our environment and human rights, and want to see more done to tackle inequality here in Scotland, Social Style is your answer! But your help is needed to make this happen, because the start-up costs for a service like this are high. Social Style will gratefully accept any pledges, and various rewards, including discount subscriptions, are on offer in return.

Be part of a game-changing new sustainable way to shop - be a Social Styler!
