Pupils compete in the annual Gilbert Murray Competition

Congratulations to a number of pupils from Senior School, for their recent success in the annual Gilbert Murray Classics Competition.

The annual competition is run by the Glasgow and West branch of The Classical Association of Scotland. Academics from Glasgow University assist in the programming of the competition with entries open to any pupils from Scottish schools in year groups J6 to SVI.

Two pupils were awarded certificates for excellent contributions. Hilary E-M (SV) submitted a piece of work on the topic of medication administered by doctors in the Roman army. SIII pupil Callum H gained a certificate for his contribution of a travel brochure that advertised the town of Pompeii.

A prize and certificate were presented to Stella McC (SIII) for presenting alternative interpretations of two different stories from Greek mythology. Additionally, Stella was one of only six pupils nationally who received a prize in this annual competition.

Well done to all Stella, Callum and Hilary on their recent awards and for creating these imaginative and innovative pieces of work.
