Recently, The National Piping Centre held their annual Junior solo Competition. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the event was subsequently moved to an online format, with entries accepted via video submission. The digital nature of the competition this year meant that the event was attended by over 100 competitors from across the globe. The NPC also received near 350 separate performances, allowing them to expand the competition and age categories.

The results of the competition were announced on Saturday the 13th February. We would like to congratulate a number of our pupils who successfully made the prize list.

Pupils from our St Columba’s School Pipe Band and piping and drumming programme have now become known for their resilience and determination to succeed throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. National Lockdowns and a countless number of restrictions have proven to be no match for their talent and tenacity. Congratulations to all our pupils who took part in the Junior Competition, we can not wait for your live performances to resume.

If your child is interested in learning to play the bagpipes, chanter, snare, bass or tenor drum, please complete this form and return it to Mr Bruce gbruce@st-columbas.org.
