11th May 2017

Thank you to everyone who contributed to organising the 50 year reunion which took place at the School on Saturday. Below is a summary of the event by FP Joy McLeod - it looks like a fantastic day was had by all!

Summary by Joy McLeod

Saturday 6th May 2017 saw 22 rowdy – oops meant to say rather mature - former pupils, gather in the school.  For many this was the first time for 50 years and was our class reunion.  Many of the group had travelled a long way to be there for this memorable event – Canada, Spain, London, North West and North East Scotland as well as Kilmacolm and judging by the noise in the hall all day, it was well worth the effort.

A tour of the School was much enjoyed, seeing how it has moved on and now having such wonderful facilities. The new Girdwood Building had memories for many of us, having been the family homes of some of our classmates all those years ago!  The charming young gentlemen taking us round were very patient with such a rabble of women but I am sure they were wondering what on earth went on at school in our time!

Memorabilia provided a great deal of laughter and brain searching trying to remember some names.  We enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the Hall – no resemblance to school dinners – and finally had to be ushered out the building at 3pm, still talking.  The festivities continued at Kilmacolm Golf Club for another couple of hours and the cry for another reunion in 5 years time has been noted.  The photos taken on the day will no doubt create more laughter next time!

We would like to thank the School for all their assistance in the organisation of this event and the smooth running of the day.
