‘Beating the Retreat’ a spectacle of sound, colour and marching returned for its thirteenth year at St Columba’s.

Attendees were treated to a spectacular display of fine music, marching, pageantry and even a mini rock concert. Who needs Glastonbury?!

Last night’s performance represented a culmination of another hugely impressive and successful year for our Pipe Band. The event, which took place at St Columba’s Junior School, provided family and friends with the opportunity to enjoy the wide repertoire of music pupils have been working on throughout the year.

The performance included renditions of Scotland the Brave, Highland Cathedral, Amazing Grace and a special look at the Pipe Band’s competition set, which has brought them considerable success over the last year.

Many thanks go to Mr Gordon Bruce, Mr Steven Nelson and Ms Louise Augaitus for the musical direction they have offered to the pupils involved in the Piping and Drumming Programme this session, and also for pulling together a fantastic recital thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended.
