Callum H Receives Certificate of Achievement

Congratulations to Callum H, SIV on yet another musical accolade! Callum received a Certificate of Achievement in the prestigious New Talent British International Youth Music Competition. Click here to read more from this talented young musician:

“The 4th New Talent British International Youth Music Competition was organised by Amy Yuan Academy in association with British Music Society and the Royal Academy of Music. This year’s competition was held online due to the restrictions posed by the Covid-19 development.

The Competition aims to offer young people the opportunity to showcase their musical talents and a forum to exchange ideas with young musicians from other countries and cultures. It is also an infinitely useful resource for aspirational musicians to receive impartial feedback, encouragement, and assessment of their performances by the UK’s top music professors and educators such as the Royal Academy's heads of department or professors of instruments such as piano and cello.

The requirements were to submit two contrasting pieces of a maximum of 9 minutes length. Due to Covid, I had only entered the competition for the chance to perform again since the opportunities had been so few! However, I was amazed on the prize giving zoom call to hear that my contribution had been recognised in this way.  Along with the certificate, I received valuable comments from Fraser Gordon, the Head of Woodwind at the Royal Academy of Music.”
