We are delighted to congratulate St Columba’s pupils on another excellent set of exam results. As pass rates fall across the country, we are celebrating our best ever fourth year results with a 97% pass rate. 86% of examinations taken at this level were awarded A passes and over two thirds of candidates achieved seven or more As.
At Higher level in Senior V over 20% of pupils achieved five A passes. The overall pass rate was 92% with more than half of our presentations at this level achieving A grades. Meanwhile in Senior VI, over a third of candidates who chose to challenge themselves with three Advanced Highers achieved straight As, and almost 80% of all presentations were at A/B level.
For many of the Class of 2023 results day also brought the tension of waiting to find out if they had achieved the conditions for university offers. With a few pupils still awaiting final decisions, 94% of applicants have now been accepted to their first choice of university.
These results reflect the hard work and determination of our pupils and their teachers as well as their resilience as they continue to emerge from the most challenging of times.
