Junior School celebrate World Book Day in true style, while Senior school think about their next steps in education.

This Thursday the whole school celebrated World Book Day, a wonderful event that everyone at St Columba’s loves to take part in.

Junior School celebrated by swapping their uniforms for a stunning array of colourful and imaginative costumes. We had some wonderfully creative outfits such as  the Cat in the Hat, Harry Potter, Gangster Granny, a Very Hungry Caterpillar, and even a Super Worm!

The pupils across Junior School have been enjoying the Book Fair this week too. They have been  spending their book tokens on  thrilling new reads. On Thursday morning, the J5 pupils took time to read books with the Early Years children. It was lovely to see everyone in the room enjoying a book, and wonderful hearing the children looking after one another so well.

In Senior School the reading was equally evident! This week has also been National Careers Week, an important time for many of our older students. Yesterday, to coincide with World Book Day, the class were encouraged to read some university prospectuses.

Reading through the physical prospectuses gave them a better and more rounded view of the different courses that are on offer. Planning ahead to their next step in education is a great idea, as they prepare to sit their Advanced Higher exams this summer.
