On Saturday (7th March) the Regional Final for the Youth Speaks Rotary Club Public Speaking took place. District winners all gathered at Wallace High School in Stirling.

The Rotary Youth Speaks competition challenges young participants to test their public speaking abilities, persuading and entertaining the panel of judges and audience, with impressive displays of knowledge on a chosen topic.

The Senior team consisted of Mark C (the chair), Elliot N (who proposed the motion) and Bronte M (who opposed the motion). They spoke on the topic of sensitivity to language, with Elliot proposing that we have become far too sensitive. The Senior team were the clear winners and now go through to the National Finals in Birmingham on May 2nd.

The Intermediate team consisted of Kierandeep N (chair), Emma V (proposer) and Orla O (opposed). They spoke on the premise that we should all ‘make do and mend’ our own clothes. They were very close runners-up, and presented incredibly impressively.

Congratulations to both teams for performing so well, and good luck to our Senior team in the National Final this May!
