Online Entrance Assessments
A well done and thank you to those who joined our first foray into online assessments!
Lockdown has greatly altered the way we operate as a school. Restrictions were recently tightened in Scotland, and as a result, we had to adapt and tailor many of the events that were planned for the beginning of the year. One of these has been our entrance assessments. Ordinarily, our assessment days would involved coming into school, allowing us to welcome prospective families to the school, giving them an insight into our wonderful community and surrounding village. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has proven to be a time for exploring new territory.
On Saturday 16th of January, we hosted our first online assessment day, which meant that prospective pupils completed their entrance tests online, from the comfort of their own homes. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all the families and pupils who took part. Sitting a test is rarely good fun and we know that assessments can cause anxiety for parents and pupils alike. Many of our current (and former) families will be able to recall their own feelings on the day of their entrance assessment. Now imagine the stress of doing it online – no new, friendly and reassuring faces, just a computer screen. We appreciate that these are unusual circumstances for any child to be assessed under but we wish to congratulate you all for your effort and determination.
We hope that everyone (including our Admissions Registrar, Mrs McWhirter!) enjoyed a relaxing weekend following the assessment. Thank you and best of luck!
