We are taking part in the #DoddieAID challenge

A lockdown wouldn’t be a lockdown without a sporting challenge and we’re kicking off the year with Doddie's Active Inter-District challenge in aid of Motor Neuron Disease research. Everyone in our community is eligible to join the huge Glasgow team whose 3,817 team members have raised £93,255 by logging 269,417.3 miles of activities ranging from walking, running, horse riding, golfing, swimming... Glasgow is currently in last place (behind the 4 other districts) so we need you! If you’re racking up miles, you’re making a difference!

So far, 24,000 people have registered so please sign up here, then all you have to do is:

  • Donate to get your Glasgow District headband
  • Upload the Trac4good app onto your phone
  • Set yourself and your friends a distance challenge for the remaining weeks
  • Start logging miles for your District on the app, and tell your friends and family about it
  • If you want to fundraise, go to the Glasgow JustGiving page and click on "Start Fundraising"

The event will end on the 6th of February when all the donations will be tallied and miles counted to reveal the winning district! It is time to literally get your skates, running shoes, saddles on and get moving for #DoddieAID. Our PE department have been encouraging pupils to get involved; commenting, Mr Reid, Director if Sport said:

‘Now that we are in another lockdown, it is even more important to keep active and healthy throughout, not just during online PE lessons. The benefits of physical activity on physical and mental wellbeing are significant, especially in keeping everyone going during these difficult times. With the weather being much poorer than the last online learning period, it makes the challenge of getting out and about greater, and so Doddie Aid is such a great way of encouraging everyone to be active and be part of something huge. It doesn't have to be long distance running or cycling, simple activities such as family dog walks can be tracked by the whole family and help contribute to Team Glasgow's total.  It would great to see as many pupils and families signing up to this as possible.’

We would love to see what you’re doing to help, so please send your videos, photos and the distances you have recorded by DM or marketing@st-columbas.org.
