Emily B (SIII) has gained distinction in her Grade 8, achieving a near perfect score!

Congratulations are due to Emily B, SIII, who recently passed her Grade 8 in Clarinet with distinction! ⠀

Originally planning to sit in June 2020, Emily’s hard work and determination throughout the year paid off as she gained a nearly perfect score, securing 148 marks out of the 150 available! Grade 8 examinations are normally sat by pupils in SVI, making Emily’s achievement even more outstanding.

Emily’s success continued as she also gained a place on the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain’s Extended Inspire Programme. The NYO recently extended the project to include students who are Grade 8+ instead of just those between the grades of 6 to 8. Emily submitted her audition, comprising of contrasting pieces and orchestral excerpts.

The NYO Inspire Programme looks to give further opportunities to young musicians from a variety of different ethnic backgrounds and from a mix of locations. Emily will have access to several orchestral, creative and ensemble projects, both digital and in person, including masterclasses with professional clarinettists!

Congratulations Emily on your fantastic achievement!
