Pupils across Junior and Senior School celebrate St Columba's Day by enjoying a 5km run around Kilmacolm!

Last year, we celebrated St Columba’s Day for the very first time by giving back as a whole community. Our Rector, Mrs Reilly asked the whole Columban community – almost 800 pupils and staff - to run, walk or cycle “10k for St Columba’s Day’ in aid of the Belville Community Garden Trust’s “Bridge the Digital Divide” campaign, which aimed to bring educational technology to families in Inverclyde.

Yesterday, Mrs Carlton, Head of Charities & Teacher of PE, along with Depute Heads of School, Cara B and Alexander D hosted our second St Columba’s Day. This time, pupils took part in a 5km run round Duchal Woods in aid of Children in Poverty, Inverclyde, a charity close to our hearts. Poverty can have a profound impact on the child, their family and the rest of society and Children in Poverty Inverclyde aims to identify and assist children who face daily challenges with poverty, health, equality, and participation.

Pupils from Early Years all the way through to Senior VI enjoyed their run in the rain and the Greenock Telegraph even came by to speak to Cara and Alexander about the event!

Well done to our entire school community for getting involved and a huge thank you to everyone who donated!
