Introducing the pBuzz, a new way to learn a brass instrument for our younger pupils!

Introducing the pBuzz!

In this short video Miss Mitchell demonstrates how to play the pBuzz and all the brilliant advantages the instrument provides for younger pupils eager to start their musical journey!

The pBuzz is designed for children in Junior 2 and above. Made from lightweight plastic the instrument is durable and easier for smaller children to learn.

The music department have created a new beginner programme for groups of 3-4 children, giving them the opportunity to begin brass tuition using the PBuzz. The programme includes fun interactive sessions, learning musical concepts and developing the practical skills involved in playing a brass instrument.

Using a plastic pBuzz is a great stepping stone for your child and it is hoped that pupils will be able to eventually progress to a brass instrument. Learning any new instrument can be physically demanding, and it should be highlighted that a child’s physical build, stamina, as well as their embouchure will determine eventually which brass instrument is most suited to them. It is hoped that the group pBuzz lessons provide an easy and cost effective way of developing the skills needed to play a brass instrument and if it is suited to your child. However, our fantastic brass specialist Miss Mitchell, will always be on hand to offer guidance and support with all aspects of tuition.

Fees

The normal fee for tuition, currently £18.50, will be divided, depending on the number of pupils in each group. In order to gauge interest and potential numbers, I would be grateful if you could complete the form attached here. Mrs Murdoch coordinates the administration of the instrumental service and all requests for tuition will be processed through her. She can be contacted at the following email address jmurdoch@st-columbas.org if you have an admin enquiry regarding tuition.
