St Columba's Advanced highers students, tested their Spainish in a mini exchange with Gryffe Highschool.

Earlier in March our Advanced Higher Spanish class got the chance to put their Spanish language skills to the test, during a mini exchange with Gryffe High school.

Mrs Hepburn had previously welcomed the Gryffe students before the February break, during the first part of the exchange. The students met up for a beneficial practice of their all-important SQA Talking exam.

St Columba’s students were warmly welcomed with snacks and refreshments, and the students engaged in a carousel of extended conversations on topics important to their exam such as, the role of women in society and gender equality, immigration, the environment and new family structures.

This is an initiative which will, hopefully, be repeated when we the school session begins again. We hope it will become a long standing arrangement between the two schools. Originally St Columba’s Advanced Highers Spanish students had been invited to Gryffe High school for their end of year ‘Tapas Evening’, however since the lockdown the tapas evening may have to become a virtual event!
