Congratulations to the many pupils who achieved their Gold DofE award.

Congratulations are due to pupils, Lewis H, Laura S, Jamie M, Lucy B & Catriona L, for achieving their Gold DofE Award, despite the limitations that lockdown has provided.

The Gold Award is open to young people aged 16+ and includes compulsory activities such as volunteering, learning new skills, leading expeditions and taking part in a residential. Gold DofE is a challenging programme but these five pupils have triumphed and we are very proud of their achievement.

One of our Gold DofE Award recipients this year is SVI leaver Lucy B. Lucy, our 1st XI Hockey Captain in Session 2019/20 is an accomplished sportswoman and as part of the DofE Award, she embarked on a very unique expedition experience with fellow Gold DofE participants.

As part of the gold award participants must complete a ‘Gold Expedition’ element, completed a her expedition by using her sailing skills. Lucy B and Laura S have now both completed their Gold Award and the four other pupils who participated undertook the trip as their ‘Gold Expedition’ and now have only a few more elements to complete for their award! We hope that the sailing expedition was thoroughly enjoyed by Lucy and all her fellow sailors.

Usually, Gold Award winners would be invited to attend a presentation at the Palace of Holyroodhouse but in light of current circumstances this has had to be postponed this year. The good news is that we have been told that this special event will be rescheduled and we hope to bring you an update in the near future!
