Announcement of the final total raised by our St Columba's community.

The total raised for the Belville Community Garden Trust’s ‘Bridge the Digital Divide Campaign’ can finally be revealed. We are pleased to announce that our community raised an astonishing sum of £5245.40!

On Wednesday 22nd July, Mrs Reilly, St Columba’s Rector, visited the Belville Community Garden Trust’s offices to pass on the total raised by staff and pupils and our wonderful community.

The BCGT's campaign aimed to bring educational technology to families in Inverclyde, one of the regions in Scotland worst affected by the pandemic. The amount raised has helped to provide refurbished laptops and wi-fi dongles to secondary schools across Inverclyde. The campaign has continued to be a success and since been able to also provide technology to P7 students who are soon to start secondary school.

Pupils and families raised money for the campaign through our first ever ‘10k for St Columba’s day’. Mrs Reilly challenged pupils across the whole school to complete a sponsored walk, run or cycle over the distance of 10km. Our wonderfully creative community proved that they were up for the challenge, with some completing their 10k by swimming, horse riding, and even uni-cycling!

We are so proud of the kindness that has continually been shown by our Columban community, especially in these challenging times. Congratulations and well done to all those who participated by completing their sponsored 10k we cannot wait to showcase all of your fantastic images and entries in our magazine!
