St Columba's Pupil, Archie S, places 1st in virtual competition run by Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust .

Congratulations are due for pupil Archie S and his band Sonorous, after they recently claimed 1st place in the ‘Wake up Scotland’ competition. The competition had been run by the Scottish Schools Pipes and Drums Trust during July, and featured entries from a number of different piping based bands from across Scotland.

Archie is a piper from our St Columba’s School Pipe band, and together with his friends from The High School of Glasgow and Dollar Academy formed the champion band, Sonorous. The band perform their winning track together ‘virtually’ with Archie featuring on the keyboard. The prize for 1st place included a cash prize, and the opportunity to perform with famous pipe-band, 'The Red Hot Chilli Pipers'.

Even after their win the band continued to receive such amazing feedback that Sonorous have also decided to release their track on Bandcamp. As the track is free to download they have asked for those able to donate via their JustGiving page. A link for Sonorous’s Bandcamp page can be found here and the page on which donations can be made can be found here.

Congratulations Archie and Sonorous, we cannot wait to hear of your next performance.
