The mental health charity thank our Sports Department for their donation after their Five ferries challenge.

During the Summer break, just before we welcomed pupils back to school, our talented and determined Sports department set out to complete the five ferries challenge.

Mrs Bellew and her team cycled over 70 miles, using five different ferries to hop between islands and peninsulas in the West of Scotland. The team wanted to highlight the benefits upon mental and physical health that exercise, outdoor activity, and undertaking new challenges can have. We are lucky that here at St Columba’s we are situated in a wonderful and rural part of Scotland where we are able to thrive and reap the benefits of having the outdoors on our door step.

The sports department had all sported yellow jerseys as they completed the challenge. These were not an attempt to mimic the 'Tour de France' but more importantly were in support of the mental health charity Young Minds. The charity works to assist young people facing difficulty with their mental health, helping them to feel empowered and supported to overcome life's difficulties.

After raising over £1600, a well-deserved thank you has been sent from the charity. We would like to share this message of thanks with all who turned out in person to support the Sports Department and those who donated to this wonderful and worthy cause. We are lucky and proud to be surrounded by such a kind and generous community.
